It is always a good idea to update the firmware on your peripherals
before installing a new operating system. The drive you have uses the
Oxford 911 chipset and was not affected by the change Apple made when
they wrote OS 10.3 that affected drives using the 922 chipset.

We suggest you to update the Firewire Bridge Firmware. You will need
the administrator password for this process as at some point; the
updater will request the password for proper access. (While this
process should not result in any data loss, you should have any
important data on the drive backed up elsewhere.)
1. Download and decompress this file:
http://www.lacie.com/download/drivers/LaCieUpdateTool_OSX.sit

2. Have only the firewire device in question attached.

3. Open the folder and find the update program. Hold down the
Option key and double-click the update tool. Continue to hold down the
Option key throughout the ENTIRE process. This will force the updater
to let you select the right firmware, rather than allowing it to update
automatically.

4. Click the Update button, continuing to hold down the Option key.
This will bring up a second window showing case styles and devices.

5. Look at the case style and verify it matches your drive. If
not, select the proper case.

6. Look at which device is selected below-this is the device the
bridge is currently programmed to believe is in the case. If it is
incorrect, find and select the proper device. Note that Big Disks are
different from hard drives and have their own firmware. The firmware
version will have (BD) at the end to indicate a Big Disk. (If the drive
type was incorrect, this can cause data corruption and prevent some
software from accessing the drive properly.)

7. Once done, click okay and run the update. The drive will be
reprogrammed to the latest firmware version and to the proper device.
